2012 New Balance Indoor Grand Prix: Silas Kiplagat Moves up to 3,000m

Silas Kiplagat is one tough miler. The 2010 Commonwealth champion at 1,500 meters, and in 2011, Silas rose to the silver medal at the 2011 World Championships in Daegu, Korea, Silas has run 3:29.27 for 1,500 meters. Coached by Renuto Canova, famed coached of Moses Mosop, among others, Silas Kiplagat has the raw energy seen in runners such as the late Sammy Wanjiru.
Moore Wins 800m to Help Team USA at Five Nations Match
Team USA picked up an event win from Erica Moore in the women’s 800m en route to placing fifth overall Saturday at the Five Nations Match in Glasgow, Scotland.
Where is Our Sport Going?

So, this started as the beginning of Elliott Denman's piece on the U.S. Open, then I decided to rewrite and try and be more inclusive. I saw some good things at the US Open, and liked that Budweiser came in as a sponsor at end. I will be at NB, USA Indoor, World Indoor, and a few other events (Brooks PR invitational), writing about our sport and observing. Here are my observations so far, and my invitation for others to write about the sport that we all love, and want to see flourish.
YouTube Bringing Millrose Games To Masses
NEW YORK, January 30, 2012 - The Armory Foundation has announced a multi-year agreement with YouTube Sports to air its track & field season. The highlight will be a live HD production of the 2012 Millrose Games at the Armory beginning at 4 p.m. February 11, 2012 and ending with the famous Wanamaker Mile sponsored by the New York Road Runners at 10 p.m.
Roster Announced for Five Nations Match
USA Track & Field recently announced the list of athletes that will represent the United States in the annual Five Nations Match to be held Saturday, January 28, in Glasgow, Scotland.
2012 New Balance Indoor Games
The real opening of the Indoor season for many, is the NB Indoor Games, held at the NYC Armory, January 21. Some tremendous performances, lead by some fun indoor miles and Edward Cheserek, the 2011 FootLocker champion, running a fine 4:02.21 mile.

The race was fantastic. 111 men in the field, and 50 under 2:19.01. Nineteen personal bests, including best Olympic Trials marathon times for places two to fifteen! Meb Keflezighi's win was masterful, a stroke of real genius and also, amazingly lucky. Bob Larsen, Meb's coach, and Meb Keflezighi took a gamble, with their eyes open, and once again, the gamble paid off.
