Nike Indoor Nationals 2010 - Registration is Open

We are excited again to return to the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston.

As many know, the banked track is one of the fastest in the U.S., having hosted the USATF Championships and the NCAA Division II Championships for many years. The track has played in integral part of numerous national high school records, as well as elite level national and world records.

Our return to Boston in 2009 was testament to that. Aside from numerous U.S. high school leaders, these were the national records set:

Boys 5000m - Lukas Verzbicas (Lincoln Way, New Lenox, IL) - 14:18.42

Boys 60m Hurdles – Wayne Davis (Southeast, Raleigh, NC) 7.60

Boys 4x800m – Albemarle, Charlottesville, VA – 7:36.99

Boys 4xMile – West Windsor-Plainsboro North, Plainsboro, NJ – 17:21.58

Boys Weight Throw – Conor Mc Cullough (Chaminade, West Hills, CA) - 92-7.5

Though the girls did not achieve any national records, they accounted for 11 U.S. leaders!

We wish to thank the Boston community in general, and the Director and Assistant Director of the Reggie Lewis Center, Keith Mc Dermott and Nancy Sheehan-Curran, respectively, for helping to make it happen.

New for 2010

New Events

We have added two new events: the Freshman 400 meters and the New England 4x400m. The aforementioned is obviously for ninth graders; the New England 4x400m is for high schools (not all-star teams) from the New England states. That event is limited to the first 12 teams entered per gender.

Schedule Changes

Friday (March 12) has become a fuller schedule. The Freshman 400m takes place on that day. The Mile Walk and Freshman Mile, as well as the Distance Medley Relay and Girls High Jump will now be contested on Friday.
Saturday (March 13) will now have the 4x800m, Two Mile and Boys High Jump. Both shot puts will be contested on Saturday, and both will take place on the infield instead of the weight cage.
Sunday (March 14) will no longer have the unseeded sections of the Two Mile as the first event (it has been moved to Saturday). The New England 4x400m will take place just before the opening ceremonies and the 400m Final has been moved to before the one mile.

Western Washington’s junior Sarah Porter improved eleven spots from 2008 to take home runner up honors with her 20:30. A pair of Missouri Southern runners captured the next two spots as junior Ashley Siler (20:43) edged senior Kimi Shank (20:44) for third. Senior Mary Ballinger of host Southern Indiana was fifth with a time of 20:45. Minnesota-Duluth’s Morgan Place (20:53), Cal St Los Angeles’ Vivien Wadeck (21:02), Millersville’s Priscilla Jennings (21:05), Adams State’s Alicia Nelson (21:07) and Colorado Mines’ Sydney Laws (21:08) rounded out the top ten.

Adams State won their seventh consecutive Women’s NCAA Division II Cross Country team title with their 73 points. Last year’s runner up Grand Valley State (81) again took home the runner up trophy. Missouri Southern (104), Seattle Pacific (151) and Alaska Anchorage (158) finished next. Chico State (172), Minnesota-Duluth (294), Western Washington (300), Western State (306) and Tampa (308) rounded out the top ten.

Adams State’s senior Reuben Mwei (30:27) nipped Harding’s sophomore Daniel Kirwa (30:28) to take home the individual gold. American International’s freshman Glarius Rop (30:32) took home the bronze. Abilene Christian’s junior Amos Sang (30:48) and Adams State’s senior Aaron Braun (31:08) finished next. Adams State’s Brian Medigovich (31:12), Queens’ Oscar Ogwaro (31:18), New Mexico High’s Nicaise Kazingo (31:19), Columbus State’s Meshack Koyiaki (31:22) and Adams State’s Anthony Gauthier (31:28) rounded out the top ten
