June 26, 2008 / From Walt Murphy's News and Results Service - The 2008 U.S. Olympic Trials are finally here. They begin on Friday and references to the Trials are all over the city of Eugene--"Tracktown USA". This is one of the few (if not the only one) cities in the U.S. where you don't have to explain to the cab driver or waitress why you're in town. EVERYONE in Eugene knows what's going on over the next 10 days. If you're lucky enough to be attending the Trials, you're in for a special treat. With all due respect to Sacramento, the host of the 2000 and 2004 Trials, there is no better place to hold the Trials than at Hayward Field in Eugene, the site of the 1972, 1976, and 1980 Olympic selection meets.

Go to the host site for entry lists, Trials history, and much more

You MUST check the Eugene Register Guard site on a daily basis. No paper in the U.S. covers track and field better than ³the Guard² and they are already providing great pre-Trials coverage. Today¹s edition, which might not be on-line yet, contains a special section that provides a detailed preview of every event. (free registration might be required--it's painless)

It's not too late to enter USATF's "pick-n-win" Fantasy game. If you haven't been playing all season, you can't win the grand prize, but you could still win the weekly prize. Just pick the winners of each event--check T&F News's formcharts for a guide(see above) and check the latest 2008 performance lists at: http://www.usatf.org/statistics/topMarks/2008/outdoorTF/men....
