Daprano, Condon Set U.S. Masters Records
July 25, 2007 From press release.
Jeanne Daprano and Frank Condon took turns rewriting the
U.S. Masters record books over the weekend at the USATF
West Region Championships at Occidental College near
Los Angeles, Calif. Daprano set U.S. W70 age-group records in the 400 meters
(78.64 seconds) and 800 meters (3 minutes 7.69 seconds),
bettering the listed American records of 82.52 set in 1998 by
Patricia Peterson, and 3:13.90 set by Suzi MacLeod at the
2005 Decatur masters nationals. Daprano is expected to
compete in the 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m and 1,500m at
the 2007 USA Masters Outdoor Track & Field
Championships (August 2-5) in Orono, Maine. Not to be outdone, Frank Condon shattered the 35-year-old
M65 outdoor mile record with his time of 5 minutes 12.21
seconds. Condon's performance bettered the previous
long-standing American record of 5:22 set by Monty
Montgomery in 1972. Condon is slated to compete in the
800m, 1,500m and high jump next month at the USA
Championships in Orono. For more information on the 2007 USA Masters Outdoor
