Prize Money Announced for USA Cross Country Championships

The prize money breakdown for the USA Cross Country Championships, presented by Gleukos has been announced by the host New York Road Runners. The Championships will be held February 18-19, 2006 at Van Cortlandt Park in Brooklyn.

In addition to open and Masters prize money, a $1250 bonus will be given to the six athletes in each senior race that accept a team spot and compete in the IAAF World Cross Country Championships in Fukuoka, Japan on April 1 and 2.

"USA Track & Field is excited to come to New York City for the USA Cross Country Championships presented by Gleukos," said USATF Cross Country Council Chair Mike Scott. "The New York Road Runners are investing unprecedented resources into thechampionships -- from a record-breaking prize money purse to top-notch professional event production that only the directors of the New York City Marathon can provide. America's top distance runners will have the opportunity to compete inthe first-class event that they deserve!"
