The High Performance Division of USATF is hosting the
third annual Middle/Long Distance Summit in Las Vegas,
Nev. Nearly 40 of the very best middle and long distance
coaches will be on hand December 14-16 to exchange and
share the most current and effective coaching/training
methodology and science for middle and long distance
runners. This very high qualitative and quantitative event is
open to all interested coaches who would like to attend at
their own expense, but without a registration fee. "The Middle/Long Distance Podium Education Project is to
bring together some of the best and most advanced minds
and thinking about middle and long distance running," said
Brooks Johnson, USATF High Performance Chair. "We have
a special emphasis on those who have achieved success
at the podium level."
Presenters will include Dr. Fabian Polo, Dr. Joe Vigil and
Coaches Robert Gary and Terrence Mahon. Topics will
include the areas of science, and coaching such as
biomechanics, altitude training and peaking.
The event is organized around several concepts and
objectives, including the identification of the Critical Zones
and Critical Factors that impact performance in the areas
of: Biomechanics; Overtraining and Peak Performance
Markers; and Foot and Lower Leg Function and Strength.
