2007 USATF Club Championship Series to Offer $65,000 in Prize Money

INDIANAPOLIS - As part of its ongoing club revitalization
efforts, USA Track & Field has announced that its 2007 Club
Championship Series will feature three national
championship events with a total of $65,000 in team prize
money. The events in the series will include national club
championships in track & field, cross country and road
racing: USATF National
Club Marathon Relay Championships
May 20, Denver, CO
2007 marks the fourth edition of this
championship, which will be held in conjunction with the
Colorado Colfax Marathon. A total of $30,000 in prize money
will be awarded to the top five men's and women's teams.
Defending men's and women's team champions are
Boulder Express 'BX" (CO) and adidas Raleigh Track
Club (NC). USATF National Club Track &
Field
Championships
June 13-14, New York
The national championship
will be held at Icahn Stadium on Randall's Island in New
York City. A total of $10,000 will be awarded to the top
teams. In 2006, the Executive Track Club captured the
men's team title as well as the combined scoring
(men/women) title, and Greater Boston Track Club won the
women's title. Four regional championships will be held in
June and July as "tune up" events for the national
championships. The winning clubs at the regional
championships will earn travel support to the nationals.
The four regional championship events are:
* West, June 3, Los Angeles, CA
* North, June 9-10, Edwardsville, IL
* South, June 16, Lancaster, TX
* East, July 6-7, Albany, NY
USATF National Club Cross Country
Championships
December 8, West Chester, OH
After a record
turnout of nearly 1,200 athletes and 130 teams at the 2006
championships in San Francisco, the Club Cross Country
Championships in 2007 move to the Midwest and Voice of
America Park, site of the 2006 NCAA Division III Cross
Country Championships. A record $25,000 will be awarded
to teams in the Open and Masters divisions. The 2006 club
champions were: Zap Fitness (open men); Boston Athletic
Association (open women); Front Line Racing Team
(M40+), Asics Aggie Running Club (W40+), Club Northwest
(M50+), Impala Racing Team (W50+), Raritan Valley Road
Runners (M60+), Tamalpa Runners Inc (W60+), and
Snohomish Track Club (M70+). Clubs wishing to participate in these events must be
registered 2007 USATF member clubs. Additionally, each
athlete must be a 2007 USATF member and affiliated with
their club as part of their USATF membership. Clubs should
contact their local USATF Association to confirm their club's
and athletes' eligibility. Association contact information is

As USATF expands the Club Championship Series, it will
