Spearmon and 2007 IAAF Golden League winner Sanya
Richards stole the show in 100 meter action at the 2007
Shanghai Golden Grand Prix. A 4x100m gold medalist at the 2007 World Outdoor
Championships, Spearmon edged out reigning World
100m and 200m champion Tyson Gay in the men's 100m,
crossing the line in 9.96 seconds to Gay's 10.02. It was a
personal best for Spearmon and the first time he has ever
dipped under the 10 second barrier.
In the women's 100m, 2006 IAAF Athlete of the Year Sanya
Richards set a personal best in taking second place in
10.97 behind Jamaica's Veronica Campbell who won in
10.90. 2007 World Outdoor bronze medalist Carmelita Jeter
was third in 11.09 and 2007 World Outdoor silver medalist
Lauryn Williams was fourth in 11.21.
2004 Olympic gold medalist and two-time World champion
Jeremy Wariner cruised to victory in the men's 400m,
winning in 44.02 seconds. 2007 World Outdoor bronze
medalist Angelo Taylor was the runner-up in 45.03 and
Darold Williamson was fourth in 45.38.
2006 U.S. Outdoor champion Brian Johnson won the men's
long jump with a leap of 8.15 meters/26 feet 9 inches while
2007 U.S. Outdoor triple jump champion Aarik Wilson was
the runner-up with 8.03m/26-4.25. 2005 U.S. Outdoor
champion Miguel Pate was third with 8.02m/26-3.75.
Also on the track, two-time World champion Michelle Perry
was victorious in the women's 100m hurdles in 12.65 and
former UCLA standout Dawn Harper took third in 13.03. In
the men's 110m hurdles, Anwar Moore was the runner-up in
13.20 behind Cuban Dayron Robles, who won in 13.01,
while four-time World champion Allen Johnson was fourth in
13.23. World Outdoor fourth-place finisher Rodney Martin
was second in the 200m in 20.29, behind Jamaica's Asafa
Powell who won in 20.00. 2007 Visa Outdoor champion
Tiffany Williams was third in the women's 400m hurdles in
55.01.
