Masters legend Bill Collins completed the 60-200-400 sweep by winning the 400m in 54.22, ahead of Italy's Vincenzo Felicetti (55.79) at the 2006 World Masters Athletics Championships Indoor held at the Intersport Arena in Linz, Austria.

Collins won the M55 60m world title in 7.34 seconds after lowering his own world indoor record of 7.47 to 7.46 in the semifinal earlier in the day. In the 200m he ran with borrowed spikes and shorts, having left them behind at a New Jersey airport. Collins set two world 200m records in the same day with a semi-final time of 23.70 and 23.36 in the final to brush aside his compatriot Stephen Robbins' time of 24.09 set in 1998. Collins now has the distinction of owning the 200m world record for three age categories: M45, M50 and now M55.

2005 USATF Masters Athlete of the Year Emil Pawlik set a M65 world record in the 60m hurdles finishing in 10.17. He also took home the gold in the M65 pentathlon with 4,246 points.

Dexter McCloud ran the 39-inch hurdles in 8.35 to lower the listed M45 world record of 8.36 set by Colin Williams of the USA in 2002. In the finals, McCloud lowered his new record when he finished with arms aloft in a much improved 8.22.

Elsewhere, Joy Upshaw-Margerum took home a gold and a silver with her first and second place finishes in the W45 200m and W45 LJ respectively. Upshaw-Margerum clocked in at 26.21 over 200m and leaped 5.25m/17-2.75.

Dan Holton won the M35 pole vault with a jump of 4.40m/14-5.25-- the only non-European in the field.

In the W40 high jump, Pat Porter won on fewer misses as she and Britain's Wendy Laing cleared 1.66m/5-5.25, which easily topped the listed American indoor W40 record of 1.55m/5-1 by Kimberly Harrell.

In the M65 1,500m, Sid Howard won in 5:09.42 to edge out Germany's Werner Mey (5:10.02). Howard won the 800m earlier in the meet. M50 Steve Gallegos was unable to pull off the 800-1500 double, as he took second in the 1500 to France's Pierre Faucheur, 4:17.40 to 4:21.96, and M45 800m champ Kevin Paulk also took silver in the 1,500m, trailing Britain's Steve Smith, who won 4:10.97 to 4:14.03.

In the W70 1,500m, American Mary Harada took silver in 6:58.09 behind Germany's Elfriede Hodapp (6:26.65), and in the W45 1,500m, American 800-meter record-holder Lesley Chaplin-Swann was fourth in 4:50.03.

Chaplin-Swann won W45 gold in 2:20.99 to set an American 800m age- group record (lowering her own indoor AR of 2:22.37) as M65 Sid Howard (2:28.37) added another gold to his world medal collection. Steve Gallegos won M50 in 2:06.90 and Kevin Paulk won M45 in 2:04.03. W70 Mary Harada got a bronze in her 800 (3:25.97) and Greg Foster went 14.12m/46-4 for gold in the M40 triple jump.

Bruce McBarnette, a Virginia lawyer, and 1976 Olympian Jim Barrineau collected gold medals in the M45 and M50 high jump, respectively, Sunday in Linz. Bruce set an M45 PR with his 1.96m/6-5 clearance, while Barrineau cleared 1.78m/5-10.
