Marshevet Hooker, a 4-time NCAA Champion who led her 2005

decided to turn professional and will compete for adidas, according to
her manager, Mark Wetmore. Wetmore is president of Global Athletics &

year added national indoor titles in the 60-meter dash and the long
jump. Her personal best of 11.09 in winning the Big 12 title this spring
makes her the eighth-fastest woman in the world this year. The 2005 US
Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Women's
Athlete of the Year as a sophomore and an eight-time All-American,
Hooker was unable to defend her outdoor sprint title because of a minor
hamstring injury, but plans to compete in the long jump at the AT&T USA
Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Indianapolis. She will make
her professional debut there on Saturday. Before her Texas career, Hooker was a 5-time 5A State Champion and
12-time All-American at Southwest High School in San Antonio, and
holds the state record (11.28) at 100 meters. Although forgoing her
remaining athletic eligibility at the University of Texas, Hooker plans to
complete her degree program in corporate communications and will
continue to be coached by Beverly Kearney. A Boston-based athlete representation and events management firm,
Global Athletics & Marketing, Inc., manages 70 top athletes from around
the world and owns or produces four of the biggest track-and-field
