Gay, Willis and Brannen Turn Pro with Global Athletics & Marketing
June 20, 2005
From Press Release

Global Athletics & Marketing, Inc., a premier athlete-representation and event-marketing firm, has added three new track-and-field stars to its roster. The Boston-based firm announced today that Tyson Gay, the 2004 NCAA 100-meter champion; Nick Willis, a 2004 Olympic semifinalist at 1500m; and Nate Brannen, two-time NCAA indoor 800- meter champion, have joined its roster of topnotch clients.

"These three standouts are already world-class athletes as well as world-class people," said Mark Wetmore, president of GA&M. "We are proud they have chosen GA&M to help guide their careers, and we look forward to watching them grow on the world stage."

Gay, who recently finished third at 200m in the NCAA Championships, owns the second-fastest time in the world this year (19.93) at that distance, in addition to his 2004 100-meter title. He will remain at the University of Arkansas to earn his degree in marketing and continue to be coached by Lance Brauman. Gay will make his professional debut in the USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships that begin Thursday.

Likewise, Willis and Brannen will stay with their college coach, Ron Warhurst, and finish their degrees at the University of Michigan. Willis, a 2004 Olympian for New Zealand, is also the 2005 NCAA indoor mile champion and the 2004 NCAA runner-up at 3000m. Besides his 800- meter titles, Brannen posted the second-fastest indoor mile in collegiate history (3:55.11) at the Reebok Boston Indoor Games in January, and is the Canadian record-holder at the distance.

Gay, Willis and Brannen join a GA&M roster of Olympic and World Championship athletes that includes Tonique Darling (Bahamas), 2004 Olympic gold medalist at 400m; Liu Xiang (China), the reigning Olympic 110m hurdles champion; Hailu Negussie (Ethiopia), 2005 Boston Marathon winner; Alistair Cragg (Ireland), 5000m European Champion; John Godina (USA), two-time Olympic medalist in the shot put; Tirunesh Dibaba (Ethiopia), 5000m World Champion and indoor world- record holder; Gezahegne Abera (Ethiopia), 2000 Olympic Marathon champion; and David Krummenacker (USA), 2003 World Indoor Champion at 800m.

GA&M also produces the Reebok Boston Indoor Games and the Reebok Grand Prix, two of the foremost track-and-field events in the United States. For more information on GA&M athletes and events, visit www.globalathletics.com.
