Undeterred by rainy weather, 2003 world silver medalist Joey
Woody and former Tennessee star Dawane Wallace led a list of
impressive performances at the Drake Relays this past weekend. The 2003 world outdoor silver medalist, Woody won the ninth
Drake Relays title of his career with his time of 49.18 seconds
in the 400-meter hurdles. Wallace won the invitational 110m
hurdles in 13.47, the fastest time ever in the 95-year history
of the Drake Relays. Ron Bramlett finished second in a strong
field in 13.53, and Aubrey Herring third in 13.64.
Other male winners included Leo Bookman in the 100m (10.64);
Khadevis Robinson in the 800m (1:49.11); Nathan Leeper in the
high jump (2.20m/7-2.50); Christian Cantwell in the
invitational shot put (20.64m/67-8.75) and Toby Stevenson in
the pole vault (5.71m/18-8.75).
Female winners included Carrie Tollefson in the 1,500m
(4:11.69); Amy Acuff in the high jump (1.88m/6-2); Brianna
Glenn in the 200m (23.87) and Shellene Williams in the
invitational 400m (52.95).
