The USATF Cross Country Council announced on Wednesday that Boulder, Colo. has been awarded the 2007 USA Cross Country Championships. The premier cross country event in the country, the Championships are the Team USA selection event for the 2007 World Cross Country Championships.

"We had three very thorough and exceptional bids to consider: Boulder, Colo., San Diego, Calif. and Vancouver, Wash.,"said USATF Cross County Chair Mike Scott.

"This is wonderful news for the city of Boulder and the state of Colorado," said Pete Julian, who organized the Boulder bid. "To have the USA Cross Country Championships in the running mecca of the world is going to be absolutely amazing. The support here for an event like this is through the roof."

The meet will feature an unprecedented $40,000 in prize money and will be held in February 2007 at the Flatirons Golf Course outside Boulder.
