Edwards named Athlete of the Week; Top track & field marks of the week

INDIANAPOLIS, IN - Torri Edwards has been named USA
Track & Field's
Athlete of the Week after winning the 100m and 200m Saturday at
the IAAF Grand Prix II - Meeting in Fort De France, Martinique.The 2003 World Outdoor 100m silver, 200m bronze and
4x100m silver medalist, Edwards ran 11.12 in the 100m and 22.66
seconds in the 200m to win both races. Her 100m performance in
Martinique equals the third best time in the world this year,
and her 200m performance is the second best mark globally this
season. World-leading marks turned in by American athletes
over the weekend included: 2002 USA champion Anthony
Famiglietti's 8:25.02 in the 3,000m steeplechase at the Penn
Relays; two-time Olympic shot put medalist John Godina's 21.32
meters/69 feet, 11.5 inches in the men's shot put at San Diego;
and 2000 Olympic bronze medalist Melissa Morrison's 12.63 in
the 100m hurdles at Martinique. Now in its fourth year, USATF's Athlete of the Week
program is designed to recognize outstanding performers at all
levels of the sport. USATF names a new honoree each week and
features the athlete on the USATF website. Selections are based
